PORK ALLEY 22nd ANNUAL VALLEYFEST BBQ CONTEST
SATURDAY AUGUST 20th
Barbecue is defined as meat prepared (smoked or grilled) on a fire (not boiled or fried) basted or not, as the cook sees fit, and with any non poisonous substances and sauces the cook believes necessary.
There will be three categories in this contest:
1. Pork Ribs
3. Blind Sauce
2. Backyard Surprise
Pork Ribs entry: Pork ribs any style or cut.
Backyard Surprise entry: Any meat (except pork), or fish cooked on a fire not boiled or fried.
Contestants may enter any or all categories.
Each team must supply everything needed at the site. The sit will be approximately 30 feet by 40 feet. Water faucets are nearby for garden hose use. Electricity will not be provided. Digging pits is not permitted. Teams may not sell food or merchandise.
The chief cook will be held responsible for the conduct of his team and guest. Under no circumstance are alcoholic to be distributed to the public by contestants.
Participants may not pursue any activity which is determined by the committee to distract from or disrupt other activities of participants at Valleyfest or Pork Alley (i.e. disruptive behavior, loud music, etc.)
The festival committee requests and requires that good taste be used not only in your barbecue, but in your area as well. We want everyone to have a good time, and maintain a good atmosphere for families that attend Valleyfest.
Parking and moving vehicle rules will be distributed to each team.
Each chief cook must check in at the registration area. Registration and lot occupancy will begin no earlier than 8:00a.m. Friday August 20th. A short meeting for chief cooks will be held at 6:00pm Friday at Swine Central.
For Safety reasons, all entry and exit of cars must and be completed by 4:00 Friday. On Saturday afternoon enty and exit of vehicles should only be between 2pm and 4pm.
TEAMS WILL BE PROVIDED ONE VEHICLE PASS FOR ENTRY AND EXIT DURING SATURDAY TIME.
All teams are expected to clean up their area upon exiting the park. Please leave the area as clean as you found it.
There will be on site judging only. A blind judging (and prize) for sauce only will be held for teams who choose to participate. Judging will be by secret ballot of the judges. Two groups of 4 judges each will visit your site. No Finals judging. There will be a brief explanation of judging procedures at the cooks meeting.
Blind sauce judgin Saturday at 10:30am. Site judging begins at 11:30am.
