Security at ValleyFest

With ValleyFest just around the corner, Security is gearing up for another great year. Mark Vaughn, Commander of the Pope County Sheriff’s Reserves, stated that “Our goal is to ensure the public is safe and secure while at ValleyFest.” According to Vaughn, “Each year ValleyFest gets bigger and better and has become a summer tradition for many area families. For these reasons, we want to keep it safe.”

Law Enforcement will be in full force again this year, with many of the area agencies participating at the festival. As always, the “Zero Tolerance” method will be enforced. “With such a large attendance of children and families, we cannot jeopardize safety”, says Sheriff Aaron Duvall. “With several excellent entertainers playing this year, the turnout is expected to be extremely high. We are hoping everyone will have a good time, but will take immediate action on those who act inappropriate or disorderly.”

For safety reasons, no coolers or pets will be allowed at ValleyFest, nor will bikes or skateboards ridden in the crowd be tolerated. “These will be strictly enforced”, says Vaughn. “We want everyone to have fun as well as a safe time.”
